Abstract / Summary

The study examines the possibility of transferring the social housing experience from Singapore to Syria in the post-war period to address the escalating housing crisis. Through an analysis of both the Syrian and Singaporean contexts, the study highlights shortcomings in the Syrian experience and proposes a sustainable framework for social housing based on clear legislation, targeting the most vulnerable groups, subsidized financing, and urban planning that promotes social cohesion and reconstruction.

This study sheds light on the potential for applying the social housing model in post-war Syria, drawing on Singapore’s pioneering experience. It discusses the challenges associated with the Syrian context and proposes an integrated framework grounded in clear policies, sustainable financing, and effective urban planning, with the aim of achieving equitable reconstruction and strengthening social cohesion in conflict-affected environments.
