Abstract / Summary

Folk cultural heritage is essential for preserving a community’s identity and social cohesion. In Raqqa, folk heritage—represented by the Raqqa Folk Heritage Troupe—was an integral part of the city’s history, but it was damaged as a result of the Syrian war. This study aims to develop a management plan for folk heritage that ensures the city’s recovery with the highest quality and the lowest cost, based on interviews with experts and comparisons between alternative solutions.

This study enhances knowledge of Raqqa’s urban center and its folk heritage, presenting a recovery strategy through value engineering. It seeks to restore the city’s cultural identity by engaging all members of the community and contributing to the improvement of residents’ quality of life after years of suffering.
